Lauren Cox: Backstroke Champion & Comeback Queen

Meet Lauren Cox — double British Backstroke Champion and Ampact
Ambassador, whose comeback from Olympic heartbreak is
rewriting British swim history.

The path to the top is no gentle stream. It’s a swim against rogue waves and rip currents — and it takes more than just speed to reach the podium.

Lauren knows those waters well.

Riding the Current

Breaking into the current from a young age, Lauren started her Team GB journey in 2018, winning European Junior silver in the 50m back — a dazzling first statement on the international stage.

She claimed her first senior British title in the same event in 2022 and went on to compete at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham for England, winning two bronze medals in relays.

Defending that national title in 2023, she stormed onto the world stage, taking bronze at the World Aquatics Championships.

When the High Wave Hit

But just as she was sprinting with real momentum and had Paris ’24 firmly in her sights, the high wave hit. In 2024, Lauren missed out on Paris Olympic selection. She did not see it coming. And for a heartbreaking moment, she thought about letting it just sweep her away.

She did not quit.

She refused to be defined by that one race. She found a new line, rediscovered her love for the water, and started swimming harder than ever. She was determined: her comeback would not be a quiet one.

Rewriting British Swim History

What followed was a British swim history remake.

In 2025, Lauren rewrote the 50m backstroke national records for both long and short course — stopping the clock at 27.15 at the London Aquatics Centre to break a British standard that had stood since 2021. She claimed the 50m backstroke British title for the third consecutive time, earned selection for the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, and then — in Lublin, Poland — became European Champion in the 100m backstroke at the European Short Course Swimming Championships, producing a stunning fightback in the closing 25 metres to take gold.

2026 has only raised the bar higher. Sweeping through the Edinburgh International, AP Manchester, and the Aquatics GB Championships in London, Lauren was crowned double British Champion — winning gold in both the 50m and 100m backstroke. One swimmer. One meet. Two national titles.

LA 2028: The Biggest Show of Her Life

Perhaps the rogue wave that struck was exactly what the sprinter needed — not to slow her down, but to tune her into even better shape, physically and mentally, for the biggest show of her life.

With the 50m backstroke officially added to the Olympic programme for LA 2028, Lauren isn’t just dreaming. She’s in action, turning every doubt, every heartbreak, and every hard-won lesson into the confidence that propels her forward.

“With the 50s, I just love them and have so much confidence around it,” Lauren has said. “I know I’m good and will make it to LA 2028. I know that instead of just going and getting the t-shirt, I can be an Olympic finalist or medallist — which is exciting.”

Built for the Pool, Built for Lauren

Lauren’s comeback encapsulates Ampact’s own story of innovative entrepreneurship, and what we deeply believe — that the path to greatness is rarely linear, and only those who refuse to surrender become the strongest.

It’s a belief we build into our gear, too. Backstroke is a pool sport of milliseconds, and the Ampact Sprinter 100 Series is made for exactly that world — IPX8 waterproof to the highest rating available, one of very few headphones genuinely built for the water rather than just sweat or splashes. Its bone conduction design keeps Lauren’s ears open to her coach and her surroundings, and the secure, open-ear fit stays put length after length.

We’re proud to soundtrack Lauren’s every lap.

Supporting a Champion’s Comeback

We couldn’t be more proud to support Lauren every stroke of the way as she joins us as an Ampact Ambassador — and to be part of her journey towards LA 2028. Follow her comeback on Instagram at @lauren_cox01 as she races towards the Euroupean Championships 2026 Paris and beyond.

Welcome to the Ampact family, Lauren!
